My wallet was gone.” 【18題詳解】 該空指下文中提到的“the credit cards, the driver’s license, the cash”,這些都是錢包里裝的東西。故選B(content):所含之物,所容納之物。 【26題詳解】 根據(jù)下文中的轉(zhuǎn)折詞but可知,該句和she decided to take the chance(她決定冒險(xiǎn))是轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系。 take possession of意為“擁有,占有”。 A History Fair Competition Understanding history is vital to understanding ourselves as a people and as a nation. 由第一段“It is an essential part of who we are today and who we will become”可知,歷史告訴了今天我們是誰(shuí),將來我們要成為誰(shuí),它是我們重要的組成部分。 由This Year’s Theme中的“All participants must address how communication or transportaion technology has promoted the quality of life for Amercian throughout history ”可知,所有的參與者都必須要說明通信或運(yùn)輸技術(shù)如何在整個(gè)歷史過程中如何提高了美國(guó)人的生活質(zhì)量。 由Documentary中的“A desktop computer, screen, projector, and loudspeaker will be available”可知,將提供臺(tái)式電腦、屏幕、投影儀和揚(yáng)聲器。 由Essay Writing 中的“An academic paper of 2,000 to 2,5000 words ”No illustration are allowed。Please do not include covers. A list of references must be included”可知,要求一份2000至25000字的學(xué)術(shù)論文。 由Important Dates中的“February 19 A committee of teachers will evaluate materials and give opinions ”可知,2月19日,教師委員會(huì)將對(duì)材料進(jìn)行評(píng)估并發(fā)表意見。 B I must have always known reading was very important because the first memories I have as a child deal with books. There was not one night that I dont remember mom reading me a storybook by my bedside. I was extremely inspired by the elegant way the words sounded. I always wanted to know what my mom was reading. Hearing mom say," I cant believe whats printed in the newspaper this morning," made me want to grab it out of her hands and read it myself. I wanted to be like my mom and know all of the things she knew. So I carried around a book, and each night, just to be like her, I would pretend to be reading. This is how everyone learned to read. We would start off with sentences, then paragraphs, and then stories. It seemed an unending journey, but even as a six-year-old girl I realized that knowing how to read could open many doors. When mom said," The C-A-N-D-Y is hidden on the top shelf," I knew where the candy was. My progress in reading raised my curiosity, and I wanted to know everything. I often found myself telling my mom to drive more slowly, so that I could read all of the road signs we passed. Most of my reading through primary, middle and high school was factual reading. I read for knowledge, and to make As on my tests. Occasionally, I would read a novel that was assigned, but I didnt enjoy this type of reading. I liked facts, things that are concrete. I thought anything abstract left too much room for argument. Yet, now that Im growing and the world I once knew as being so simple is becoming more complex, I find myself needing a way to escape. By opening a novel, I can leave behind my burdens and enter into a wonderful and mysterious world where I am now a new character. In these worlds I can become anyone. I dont have to write down what happened or what technique the author was using when he or she wrote this. I just read to relax. Were taught to read because its necessary for much of human understanding. Reading is a vital part of my life. Reading satisfies my desire to keep learning. And Ive found that the possibilities that lie within books are limitless. 41. Why did the author want to grab the newspaper out of moms hands? A. She wanted mom to read the news to her. B.
