2019-2020年(課標(biāo)全國)高考英語總復(fù)習(xí) 課時作業(yè)36 北師大版 一、閱讀理解 Women are more independent than ever—yet still rely on men to sort out their finances. And the consequences could be terrible. According to a recent survey, only 47 percent of women are saving enough for retirement, pared with 59 percent of men.40 percent of women admit they leave pension provision to their husbands to sort out.“The outlook for women’s finances in the future is terrible. It’s really worrying,”says Professor Pine. “A lot of women think that somebody else is going to take care of things, yet women have a 70 percent chance of ending up being responsible for their own financial wellbeing when they get older—either because they remain single, live longer than their husbands,or get divorced,”says Professor Pine. The message is clear for those women who let their husbands take care of their savings—women have to start taking responsibility for their own finances. But why do some of us find it so hard? There are several reasons that women find it hard to save, says Sarah Pennells,“Even though the gap is closing, women still earn less than men,on average, which makes it harder for them to put money away,”she says. There is also the fact that fewer women in the private sector have access to decent pension schemes, because the kind of industries they work in are less likely to offer them. But there are other nonpractical reasons why women are not putting money away.“Women get confused by the variety of choices,”says Professor Pine.“Many of us find money issues boring.Financial information is written by men for men,it is full of jargon(術(shù)語),and women are_put_off_by it.They look at all the choices and perhaps think,‘I don’t understand this,I don’t know what is the right thing to do,I’m so scared of doing the wrong thing’,so they end up doing nothing.” But there is a deeper psychological force at play.Women’s attitudes to money are more plex than the relationship that most men have with their finances, which can make money a huge source of fear and stress for women. 1.Which of the following would be the best title for the text? A.Why Are Women So Hopeless with Money? B.Who Should be Responsible for Our Finances? A.depend on their husbands psychologically B.get more than men financially C.put away money traditionally D.get pension schemes easily B Good manners play an important part in maintaining peace and goodwill in a munity.A man with good manners doesn’t hurt others’feelings, and therefore he’s on good terms with everyone. In this way he helps to keep peace in society. But a man with bad manners has no respect for others. He uses words carelessly and behaves rudely toward others and causes a lot of unpleasantness. In the end,he himself will suffer the most.Everyone will avoid him and he will be forced to live a lonely life. To live well in a society, money alone is not enough. We should also have good manners, for it’s human nature to seek friendship;and friendship cannot be bought with money.Friendship has to be earned through our own attitude toward others. If we are kind to others, they will be kind to us,and kindness is essential to good manners.Bad manners drive away friends as well as our own family members. On the other hand,a man with good manners has many friends. He mands(博得)the respect of all those who e into contact with him.He doesn’t speak ill of others.Even when he’s provoked,he tries his best not to offend others. He has sympathy for the weak and the disabled. There are, however, many people who behave so well outside their homes that they are respected and admired by everyone. But in their own homes they are worse than the devil(魔鬼).Such people cannot be said to have good manners. It does not take long for others to discover this. If one’s manners are good, one behaves well everywhere, even when one is away from the critical eyes of others. It is therefore essential for everyone to have good manners. 5.The underlined word“provoked”in Paragraph 4 can be replaced by“______”. A.got tired B.proved friendly C.made angry D.left alone 6.People with good manners do the following EXCEPT that______. A.they behave well even when they are alone or away from the public eyes B.they only speak ill of others behind their backs when others offend them C.they are kind toward others and bring a lot of joy to them D.they respect the weak and are sympathetic toward the disabled 7.We can learn from the text that for people only behaving well outside their homes,______.
