Module 6 Eating together Unit 2 Knives and forks are used for most western food. ◆ 教材分析 Module 6的主要內容為通過對中西方飲食文化的介紹來復習被動語態(tài),重點學習heat up, be similar to, help yourself等短語的用法。從全書來看,本模塊承接上冊書對被動語態(tài)的學習和運用,內容有層次的展開,學生容易接受。 ◆ 教學目標 【知識目標】 Key vocabulary—Westerner, West, serve, similar, wing, lady, gentleman, cross. Key structures—help yourself, do as the Romans do. 【能力目標】 To get information about Western diet culture. To master the passive voice. 【情感目標】 To respect Western diet culture; To be proud of our own Chinese diet culture. ◆ 教學重難點 ◆ 【教學重點】 1. To learn some expressions in the passage. 2. To learn the passive voice. 【教學難點】 1. To get information from the article. 2. The use of do as the Romans do and help oneself. ◆ 課前準備 ◆ 1.課前準備:調試光盤與課件、給學生分組、為學生布置預習作業(yè)等; 2.教具學具:光盤、大卡片等。 ◆ 教學過程 Step1. Words 1.Give students the English description for guessing the word. 2.Teach the new words and phrases with an accurate explanation. 3.Teacher ask questions to students and students answer them with the new words and phrases to enhance their own memory. 4.Show the Chinese meanings to let student answer English correspondents. 5.Encourage students to make up English sentences in the given sentence patterns. Step2. Warm-up 1.Let students talk about the cultural shock. 2.Get students to solve the given problem. If you receive an invitation for a party which is to begin at 7 p.m. When will you arrive? 3.Look at the picture demonstrating contrast between Chinese and Western food. Let students describe the difference in their own words. 4.Get students the questions in the slide about the Western cuisines. Step3. Learning 1. Listen, read the whole passage and choose the best options for questions according to the text. 2. Complete the column in the West with notes. 3. After reading the passage, students need to answer the questions about the details in the text. 4. Read the passage again. Let students find out the most surprising pieces of information about meals and eating customs in the West. Step4. Writing 1.Write a passage for a tourist magazine with western readers called: When in China, do as the Chinese do. The procedures to complete a passage: Look at the table in Activity 3, and write questions. Now answer the questions. Use the notes you made. Write a sentence to introduce the passage. Write a sentence to finish your passage. 2.Teacher shows the sample writing with comments. Step5. Language points 1. 有一句諺語, “入鄉(xiāng)隨俗”。 在該句中,do as the Romans do的意思是“像羅馬人那樣去做”。其中,as表示“正如,像……”。 2. No one will be cross. 沒有人會生氣的。 這里cross是形容詞, 表示“生氣的”。 我們還學過cross用作動詞,表示“橫穿, 穿過, 交叉”。 3. 當定語從句所修飾的名詞或代詞(先行詞)指物并且該名詞或代詞在定語從句中充當主語或賓語時,應該用that / which 代替先行詞引導定語從句,當that / which在定語從句中充當賓語時可以省略。 4. however意為“然而”, 表示轉折。but也可以表示轉折, 但兩者用法不同。but總是位于所引出的分句之首, 而however可位于句首、句中或句尾;but之后不用逗號, 而however常用逗號與句子的其它部分隔開。 Step6.
